2016 Summer Season Information

By on August 4, 2016

The summer season is only 2 months away with the first competition night being Thursday 6 October. Please refer to the following information relating to the upcoming season.

Team Nominations

Team nominations are now open and will be closing on Friday 9 SeptemberPlease submit your team name, team list of at least 10 players, manager’s name, email and phone number to your grade coordinator or gcwaterpolo@gmail.com.

Team Fees

Team fees will be the same as last year being $1400 if paid by Friday 7 October of $1500 if paid thereafter. Teams not paying team fee by Friday 11 November may be withdrawn from the competition.

B-Grade Eligibility Amendment

The committee have agreed on this amendment with the intent to better align the men’s competition with our long term goals.

Players will allowed to play either be B-grade or A-grade.  Nominated A-grade players will not be allowed to play B-grade.  Players born in 1999 (will be 17 or under as of 31 Dec 2016) will be eligible to play both.  B-grade players can play A-grade 5 times before they are no longer eligible to play B-grade after their 6th game of A-grade.  Playersparticipating within the spirit of B-grade will still be encouraged.

We are expecting that, with this change, some teams who have relied heavily on people playing both grades will be looking for additional players and some teams will dissolve.  The committee, through the grade coordinators, will actively assist the merging of teams and transfer of players to ensure that everyone who is displaced finds a new team.

Compulsory Team Managers Meeting

There will be a team managers meeting held on Thursday September 22 to discuss the upcoming season including team duties, team obligations, referees and any other related matters.  Teams not sending a representative will have their team fee automatically increased to $1500.
